In August 2017 I was able to buy cocoa beans directly from a Jamaican farmer. While the system of post production processing and export is still not functioning well for all farmers, it is finally possible to purchase beans through the Jamaican Cocoa Farmers Association (JCFA). Farmer Desmond Jadusingh at Bachelors Hall in the parish of St. Thomas is an officer of the JCFA and has fermenting and drying capabilities on his 300 acre farm.

In May 2016 I visited Ingemann's nursery in Nicaragua. When I was no longer able to buy beans from Bachelors Hall in 2025, I purchased a limited quantity of Ingemann's O'Payo beans which I will use beginning in early 2026.
